Adult Immunization (ISAI)

We started our journey in the year 2013. Initially we faced many hurdles—society registration, acute financial crisis, and paucity of manpower. We were only a few like-minded doctors with a strong will to form this society. We all know adult immunization is crucial to prevent antibiotic-resistant infections, yet this domain of medicine remains largely neglected. In 2020, despite financial issues, limited manpower, and scepticism from colleagues, we planned a National Conference in April. However, the COVID-19 lockdown forced us to halt, which was a serious setback. In hindsight, this proved a boon in disguise, as awareness and caution about adult immunization among doctors has now increased more than ever.

Today we have an excellent blend of vibrant young members and experienced seniors driving adult immunization work. Since April 2022, after the pandemic eased, we have organized significant programs: the Virtual World Congress on Adult Immunization (23–24 April 2022), ISAICON’23 (the first annual ISAI conference, 4–5 February 2023 in Kolkata), and observance of World Immunization Week (24–30 April 2023) through Hepatitis B immunization for medical professionals, public awareness programs, and scientific sessions for doctors. We are also proud to launch our first ISAI newsletter, The Immune, published quarterly to increase awareness and update knowledge on adult immunization among doctors, paramedical staff, and the public. We invite all readers to join actively and share suggestions so we can grow from a “pie-sized” to a “pulm-sized” society.

Our Mission

Our mission at ISAI is to promote and advocate for adult immunization in India through education, outreach, and awareness campaigns. We work towards increasing knowledge about the importance of vaccines, dispelling misconceptions, and providing resources to empower individuals, healthcare professionals, and organizations in India to make informed decisions about adult vaccination.
